The Entertainment Beat with Frances Gumm - #17

Miami's so nice, I'll say it thrice! Roger Darling, Bernadette Peters, Gollum and Carol Channing 'thank you for being a friend' on this sitcom-karaoke edition of The Entertainment Beat with Frances Gumm. Judy Garland guest stars as Jean.

Fucking BRILLIANT!

For those new here, it'll probably help to know that all the voices (Gollum, Bernadette, Carol Channing, etc.) are running characters in this podcast.

Billy, you got it all right, the whole TV show!

Again, I say: Fucking BRILLIANT!

God i haven't seen that episode in a while -- but this twisted rendition lives up to my recollections. My only complaint: NOT ENOUGH JUDY!! But who else could have played Jean?! And it's a little scary how similar "Roger, Darling" sounds to Bea Arthur. Yr comic timing is spot on.

I think my head exploded from the merging of my two favorite things: The Girls (One of my favorite episode, no less) and Frances. Heavenly!

And I hope Judy and Rohrze find happiness -- somehow. Someway.

I know you will never do it now, but it is fun to think about Judy as Mrs. Garrett, Bernadette as Tootie, Carol as Blair, Roger as Jo, and Gollum as Natalie

If you're taking requests for future shows..."Designing Women" please. I don't care who plays anyone else, but I MUST, I ache to hear Judy do Julia Sugarbaker's "Night the lights went out in Georgia" speech. It ranks up there with wishing to see her play Mama Rose.

PS: I love the Sondheim references, love how good Roger is to Judy, LOVE the recent commentary by Billy in the Tony round table, love how the show constantly evolves and is never predictable. I'm altogether charmed.

This is officially my favorite episode. And I'm not just saying that to make up for the fact that I won't see you next month. You truly outdid yourself this time. I've already listened to it twice and you know I never do anything twice.

Hillariously Great, once i figured out what the heck it was! We haven't had Golden Girls on TV here in Oz since i was knee high to a grasshopper so i had to do a little research before i got it! But once i got it! Boy! Brilliant!

Thankyou!

You’re a fucking genius Billy Boy! GENIUS!
Thank you so much for the entertainment.
Question: Will we ever get to place a face with ”Roger Darling” or are we to assume that he looks like you?
